# Iran's President Stresses Commitment to Peace but Refuses to Yield to Pressure

Iranian President Peymaneh Zadeh emphasized that Tehran seeks peace but will not succumb to coercion, particularly regarding its nuclear and missile programs. In a recent address to national media, Zadeh reiterated Iran's stance on maintaining its defensive capabilities while expressing willingness to engage in international negotiations under certain conditions.

Zadeh stated, 'We are open to dialogue within the framework of international law, but if the other side insists that we cannot possess nuclear technology or defend our rights without facing bombardment, then such negotiations are meaningless.' This statement reflects Iran's consistent position on refusing to compromise its defense mechanisms, including missile programs and uranium enrichment activities.

The Iranian president also criticized what he described as double standards in international dealings. 'They supply weapons to Israel but prohibit us from possessing defensive missiles, only to launch airstrikes against us afterward,' Zadeh remarked. He was referencing the brief but intense 12-day aerial conflict between Iran and Israel earlier this year, during which U.S. forces targeted several key nuclear facilities in Iran.

Prior to the escalation of hostilities, Iran and the United States had engaged in five rounds of nuclear talks. However, these negotiations were suspended following the outbreak of conflict. Zadeh's recent comments suggest that Tehran remains cautious about reviving these talks unless its security concerns are adequately addressed.
